Steel Building Checklist
If your company is looking to reduce costs and expand at the same time that steel building or metal building kit construction could be a fantastic alternative. Not only will you save money in structure and costs but you will drive down their maintenance costs over the life of the building as well, also steel buildings are much more adaptable and easier to plan for. You will also save additional space, since most steel building construction doesn’t require interior columns, therefore providing larger floor plan configuration to allow maximum storage, production and capacity.
Therefore, when considering the construction process for steel buildings is just a basic checklist that you should consider that will help you and your project run smooth.
Construction project
This is the entire project that includes all the materials that make up the building system that you’re purchasing, it also describes the work that needs to be completed at the job site and by whom. The foundation if any, any prep or finish work should also be included in the list of things to be completed on the project.
Contract documents
In any given metal building construction process, they’re going to be a number of contract documents. These will include contracts with the contractor, general contractor, the metal building dealer or manufacturer, and should detail the work. That’s to be completed in that timeframe that the work is to be completed by, and any other additional requirements.
Contractor
This is the person or company responsible for the erection of your steel building project
The dealer
The dealer is the person who will typically order the metal building system from the manufacturer. The dealer then resells the building to you and may also be the person tasked with directing the project to completion.
The designer
The designer is the person responsible for the “look and feel” of your steel building
The end-user
Owner of the steel building project
While building a steel building or metal building kit is a lot less costly, and saves time, as in any major project there should be a clear understanding of all the roles and responsibilities before you begin construction. This list is by no means meant to be all inclusive as each and every project is different, it’s meant as a foundation and provide a starting point for you to begin developing your steel building project.
